Sen. McCain continues to flip flop on his so-called core principles. The latest? Affirmative Action. Now, surprise surprise, McCain opposes Affirmative Action but 10 years ago he called the attempt to repeal the law divisive.
Is this his first step to playing whites against minorities? Experts seem to think so:
“I have been waiting for the way in which the McCain campaign would begin to begin to racialize the [election],” Davis said. “And I think this is perhaps the beginning of it. … I’m not suggesting that McCain is playing the race card at the moment. But this is the beginning of a racialized sentiment being infused in the campaign.” Source
Some people may think, what difference does it make, racists aren’t going to vote for Obama anyway. I disagree, because there are lots of people who are not overtly racist may be moved away from Obama out of misplaced fear. The big mean black guy is going to take your degree, and your job, or at least that’s what they want you to think.
