McCain, the Original Flip Flopper
In Jack Cafferty’s column for CNN.com he rightly points out that for the last several months, all we’ve heard form John McCain was how young and inexperienced Obama is.
So what does McCain do? He picks someone to be his running mate who is even younger than Barack Obama and has less experience.
– Jack Cafferty (source)
Experience is necessary, unless it isn’t McCain seems to be saying. Perhaps as someone noted, McCain should finish the debate with himself, before proceeding to the general election

John McCain picked a former Alaska beauty pageant’s Miss Congeniality (source) as his running mate. Sarah Palin, who less than two years ago got elected Governor of Alaska, will join McCain as his running mate.
Her political experience is less than zero, and since McCain, if elected would be the oldest man ever to take the Oath of Office, Palin’s novice status is highly relevant.
Better watch out Cindy, she’s young and a former beauty queen like yourself. She’s a lot like you were when John was cheating on his disabled first wife with you. (source)

Speaking last night to 84,000 wildly cheering Americans at Denver’s Invesco Field (formerly Mile High Stadium), Barack Obama literally scored on every play.
One early example was when he, after making sure to first honor John McCain for his military service, added:
“Senator McCain likes to talk about judgment, but really, what does it say about your judgment when you think George Bush has been right more than ninety percent of the time?”
- Sen. Barack Obama
The line received applause and laughter, and left no doubt that this nominee was going to be hitting back and hitting back hard on his Republican opponent. He was not taking the high road of the last two Democratic candidates, but in fact had saved many of the attacks on his opponent for his own speech, something quite uncommon.
But this entire Obama candidacy is quite uncommon. It’s story is so remarkable as to be a uniquely American tale. Plucked from obscurity by his phenomenal 2004 speech to the DNC, when he was a lowly Illinois State Senator. A scant four years later he’s standing before 84,000 people to accept their nomination as the party’s standard bearer.
His meteoric rise is evidence that this nation is ready for change, but the politics of fear will come into play in the next 67 days also. The Republican election machine has much experience in scaring voters, and will pull out all the stops this time.
Even so, I don’t think it will be enough. Obama’s campaign will continue to tie McCain to Bush Cheney, which will be made even easier following the Republican convention where they are both slated to speak.
McCains’ in trouble, but like a cornered animal he’s still dangerous. His campaign has already shown it will stoop to any low, and expect it to get worse over the final two months.

Murfreesboro, TN – A 17 year old Middle Tennessee State University freshman underwent 2 hours of surgery recently following an attack in the school parking lot over a parking space. The teenage student, Ashley Ramsay, was reportedly cut on her left shoulder and hand, as well as a more serious slash to her temple. Her alleged attacker, 19 year old Starlett Custer, was arrested at the scene.

Starlett Custer
Alleged Slasher
Police were not identifying the weapon, except to say that the wounds were consistent with a “bladed instrument” but were not being more specific.
A third student on the scene tried to intervene, then called 911. (Source)
“There was blood all over. Blood on her hair, blood on the car, blood on the pavement,” said parking authority employee Howard Rhodes, who was working in the parking lot when the assault happened. “It was ugly. It seemed like [Custer] came at her 20 times.” (Source)
According to the victims father, Tim Ramsay, both girls were vying for the same parking spot, as a third car was vacating the space.
“The attacker came over and Ashley thought she was cutting her tire … She got out (of the car) to see what was going on. When she got out of the car, this girl attacked her.”(Source)
Starlett Custer is being charged with Aggravated Assault which in Tennessee carries a penalty of between 15 and 60 years.

An 11 year old boy was charged along with four teens in a weapons heist from a suburban Philadelphia area gun shop. An error in planning by the suspected criminals appears to be responsible for the quick apprehension of by the young men by the police. The thieves failed to have a getaway vehicle, instead relying on public transportation.
A bit of bad luck also tripped up the gang when a passer-by alerted cops as the burglary was in progress at the Suburban Armory gun dealership in Collingdale, PA. Two of the four teenage suspects were arrested at a nearby pizza shop. The other two were apprehended leaving a bus stop. Police officers found the 11-year-old already on board a bus.
An obviously dumbfounded Robert Adams, Police Chief of Collingdale, had this to say about the crime:
“You come to do a burglary on a bus, you do the burglary, you take your guns and get back on the bus and go home?” (Source)
The youths apparently cut the phone lines to the gun shop, and may have even created ‘false alarms’ in the days leading up to the robbery to test the police response time. The police speculate that the weapons and ammo were destined to be resold on the streets for between $200 – $500 a gun, a street value of between $2800 – $7000 for the 14 semi-automatic handguns recovered.

It’s amazing how good Ted Kennedy looks in this video, considering how bad off he was just a few weeks ago. His commitment to Obama and this election are truly inspiring.
Here are two of my favorite parts of Sen. Kennedy’s speech (full video above).
Barack Obama will be a Commander in Chief that understands young Americans in uniform must never be committed to a mistake, but only to a mission worthy of their bravery!
– – – – – –
The work begins anew; the hope rises again; and the dream lives on!
We hope that Ted will be there on 1/20/09 to see Barack Obama sworn in as our next president.

Two young New Jersey guys, (pictured above), recently were arrested, for being drug fighting Ninjas. Their plan was apparently to scare drug dealers out of their neighborhood by dressing as Ninjas, and sending threatening letters to people the pair suspected of dealing drugs.
Of course, the police arrested the pair immediately, before they had a chance to fight crime and/or hit themselves on the head with their nun chucks. The pair were picked up by the po-po after delivering a letter to a suspected drug dealer that read, in part, “Shinobi will stop your cruel and sadistic intentions with justified, yet merciful force” and accused drug users and dealers of “committ[ing] sin of passing impurity” to others. – Source
I’m really not sure what charges the pair might face, since being a Ninja is too awesome to be a crime, but one thing is for sure, the streets of Clifton, New Jersey will continue to be plagued by drug peddling scum as long as the police are targeting Ninjas instead of real criminals.
